Sarasa Comet Goldfish

The Sarasa Comet Goldfish is a single-tailed long-finned goldfish, with distinctive white and red colouration on its body. When small, the Sarassa comet is great for keeping in an indoor aquarium as a fancy fantail goldfish. However, like most comet goldfish, it has the potential to grow quite large and is ideal for outdoor garden ponds too. Sarassa goldfish are friendly and very active, and thrive in coldwater community aquaria.

The comet-tailed goldfish breed was developed in the United States from the common goldfish by Hugo Mulertt, a government worker, in the 1880s. The comet goldfish was first seen in the ponds of the U.S. Government Fish Commission in Washington, D.C. The word 'Sarasa' is actually of Japanese origin.
